Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda, has paid tribute to Nigeria’s late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, on the 16th anniversary of his passing, describing him as a symbol of honesty, integrity, and selfless leadership.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 5, Governor Radda said the late president remains one of Nigeria’s greatest leaders, noting that his life and leadership were defined by truthfulness and a strong commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.
“Today, we remember a leader who gave everything to this nation. President Yar’Adua was not perfect, but he was honest. He was not afraid, but he was humble. He did not seek power, but he wielded it with grace,” the governor stated.
Radda highlighted Yar’Adua’s enduring impact on Katsina State, saying his commitment to the development of his home state helped shape its growth and direction.
He added that the late president’s leadership style serves as a model of principled governance, demonstrating what can be achieved when leaders are guided by conscience, responsibility, and dedication to public service.
The governor called on political leaders across Nigeria to emulate Yar’Adua’s values of honesty and integrity, while also urging citizens to uphold the ideals he championed.
Governor Radda, on behalf of his family, the state government, and the people of Katsina State, prayed for the peaceful repose of the late president’s soul and asked for comfort for his family.
