The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Katsina State Internal Revenue Service, Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi, has resigned from his position, citing a lack of adherence to laid-down procedures in the operations of the agency.
In a resignation letter dated 6th January 2026 and addressed to the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, Professor Mashi explained that his decision was informed by his inability to effectively lead the board in carrying out its supervisory and oversight responsibilities as provided by law.
According to him, the situation made it difficult for the board to perform its statutory role over the activities of the state revenue service as stipulated in the Katsina State Revenue Administration (Codification and Consolidation) Law, 2021.
He specifically referred to Part III, Section 10(1)(a) of the law, which mandates the board to “provide general policy guidelines and superintend the Service in relation to the execution of its functions.”
Professor Mashi noted that the circumstances surrounding the administration of the agency prevented the board from effectively discharging this responsibility.
He was appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the Katsina State Internal Revenue Service on January 11, 2024 by Governor Radda.
