Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has hosted Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, Director-General of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign, and his delegation at the Katsina Emirate, as political consultations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The visit brought the President’s re-election campaign directly to the palace of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, with Yari openly declaring that the delegation had come to seek the support of the traditional institution and the people of the state for Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Presenting the delegation to the Emir, Radda reaffirmed Katsina’s commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in continued support for the President and his administration.

“Katsina remains an APC state, and we are committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in view of the initiatives and programmes his administration has introduced under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the governor said.

Radda used the occasion to emphasise the importance of cooperation between the federal and state governments, arguing that collaboration was necessary to implement development programmes, improve citizens’ welfare and address challenges confronting communities.

He also highlighted the influence of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity and political stability, describing sustained engagement with traditional rulers as an important part of effective governance and community development.

The governor commended the Emir for his leadership and contributions to peaceful coexistence and the welfare of Katsina residents, while stressing the need for political leaders to maintain constructive relationships with traditional authorities.

In his remarks, Yari explained that the delegation’s visit was specifically intended to pay homage to the Emir and seek the backing of Katsina’s traditional institution and residents for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are here to pay homage to the revered Katsina Emirate, convey our respect to the traditional institution and seek the support of the Emir and the people of Katsina State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Yari said.

He added that the visit was part of broader consultations with traditional rulers and other influential stakeholders aimed at strengthening political engagement and mobilising support for the President’s re-election campaign.

The engagement highlights the growing importance of stakeholder consultations as political actors begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 contest. In Katsina, the involvement of the state governor and the presidential campaign leadership signals an effort to connect the campaign with established traditional institutions.

However, while the delegation has made its appeal, the visit itself does not establish the position of the Emir or the voting intentions of Katsina residents. The extent to which such consultations translate into broader public support will depend on developments as the election approaches.
