Today, it is exactly six years after journalist Jamal Kashoogi walked into a Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey on 2 October 2019. Inside he was slaughtered and his body dismembered and disposed by a squad of 15 Saudi operatives. This appalling assassination within the grounds of the Consulate amounts to an extrajudicial execution.

The Saudi killers cut Khashoggi’s body into pieces using a bone sow brought from Saudi Arabia, while Khashoggi was still alive. The killers carried out the slaughter while listening to music.

It is appalling that instead of pushing for justice for his murder, the international community continues to roll out the red carpet for Saudi Arabia’s leaders at any opportunity, placing diplomatic and economic interests before human rights.

Six years after Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal assassination sent shockwaves around the world, the path to justice for his killing remains fully blocked. An independent and impartial criminal investigation into the role played by high level officials is yet to take place.
