Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state has dedicated his Golden Award of Excellence for Education and Teacher Friendliness to teachers across the state.
The award was conferred on the Governor by the National Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) during the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, on Sunday October 5th 2025.
The honour, according to the NUT, recognizes Governor Radda’s administration for its transformative reforms in the education sector and its strong commitment to teachers’ welfare.
shortly after receiving the award, Governor Radda said his government had consistently allocated over 25 percent of the state budget to education in the past two years, a demonstration of his administration’s priority for human capital development.
Governor Radda  stressed that “We have conducted a major recruitment exercise that was never done in this country — employing over 7,000 teachers at once. We are also introducing rural incentives for teachers in hard-to-reach areas to encourage and motivate them,” He stated.
He stressed that developing education was synonymous with securing the future of the state and the nation.
“Without teachers, there would be no nation and no Katsina State. We commend you, we encourage you, and we will continue to do everything possible to make your lives better,” the Governor said.
In a press release by the Chief press secretary Kaula Muhammad, Governor Radda dedicated the award to all teachers in Katsina State and appreciated the NUT for its support and collaboration with his administration.
“On behalf of our government, our colleagues and all the students in Katsina State, we thank the union, we thank Nigerian teachers, and we wish you well,” he added.
